Recognized worldwide for his unique style of playing in the goal and his colorful uniforms, Jorge revolutionized the goalkeeper position all over the world.
In 1993, the International Football Federation History and Statistics (IFFHS) voted Jorge as the third best goalkeeper in the world that year. In October of 2010, the IFFHS recognized Jorge as one of the Top 25 Goalkeepers of the Century. As a player Jorge participated in the 1994, 1998 and 2002 World Cups and in Germany 2006 he served as an assistant coach for his country's national team. With 129 international matches played for his country, Jorge is currently in third place in Mexican soccer history when it comes to international matches played for the Mexican National Team.
